KSI vs Logan Paul rematch could get 2019’s biggest boxing audience, says Eddie Hearn
KSI’s rematch with YouTube rival Logan Paul will bring in this year’s biggest boxing crowd following 10 million saw the first press conference, states promoter Eddie Hearn.
The popular YouTube personalities renewed their competition in Los Angeles at the weekend.
KSI and Paul have enrolled as boxers after their white-collar amateur bout finished in a majority draw August from Manchester and Matchroom Boxing boss Hearn is anticipating demand to watch their fight.
“Seven hundred million people saw the press conference live, only on their own YouTube flows,” Hearn told Sky Sports.
“I think that it’s around 10million people have observed the press conference now. This battle is probably going to be the most-watched struggle of this year.
“It is mad, but they’re at least respecting this exact code. They’ve turned expert, no head guards, 10 oz glasses. I don’t think that they know what they’ve let themselves in for on that one.”
Having exploited the drawing power on social networking, Hearn is developing a struggle bill to include rising US contender Devin Haney and also the world champion Billy Joe Saunders of Britain at an effort to pull a fan base that is fresh.
“They have trained hard, they are in great shape, they could struggle, but now the duty on us is to be sure that we showcase great boxing to the new crowd,” said Hearn.
“That is the reason Devin Haney, Billy Joe Saunders are most probably going to be on the undercard as well, because it’s one thing attracting countless new fans to the sport, can we keep them? That is the newest challenge.
“Even though we could keep one percent, it is great for boxing.
“Madness, total madness. I don’t understand what is going to happen. Staples Center will be crazy and hopefully we can grow the game and retain these fans in the game, and show them a while while we are there together with Devin and Billy.”
