Lewis Ritson vs Josh Taylor title fight would be massive, says Johnny Nelson
Lewis Ritson defied his doubters at a points victory over Robbie Davies Jr and a domain fight with Scotland’s Josh Taylor would be enormous, states Johnny Nelson.

The Newcastle man completed a points triumph in front of the hometown fans over Robbie Davies Jr in a WBA super-lightweight title eliminator.
Sky Sports pro Nelson admits the career-best display of Ritson surprised him after he moved a division following a decision defeat by European champion Francesco Patera over 12 weeks past.
“I never anticipated Ritson to come out with such a performance, with such strength, decision at the burden he stepped up,” said Nelson.
“He bullied his way through certain times of the struggle and boxed as well.”
Fellow pundit Spencer Oliver considers the resurgence of Ritson is full and he will now target the top names in his own weight class.
“He will takes loads of confidence in this, he had ,” said Oliver. “He explained it himself there – it was salvation. It was only about growing to the new weightreduction.
“He didn’t have a few good performances, folks thought he’d lost his power up in the new weight, but he showed that actually he’s more effective. He’s producing the weight easier and you will need time to adjust into a weight.
“He revealed that he goes world level at super-lightweight.”
Taylor, the IBF title holder, requires about WBA’super’ champion Regis Prograis in the World Boxing Super Series final next weekend, live on Sky Sports Box Office, and Nelson expects that the’Tartan Tornado’ emerges victorious to set up a possible battle with Ritson.
“Obviously Taylor,” said Nelson, when requested about world champion competitions for Ritson.
“For us on home gardening, that’s a gigantic fight. That.
“Styles-wise, I feel these boys could create both. They can struggle, they can box, they could entertain and I think it will be a wonderful clash of styles together along with him and Taylor.”
