Tottenham Hotspur Stadium: From Premier League to NFL
This week from a Champions League game on Tuesday to an NFL game on Sunday, Tottenhams new stadium was altered.
Spurs played Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in midweek as they were thrashed 7-2 from Bayern Munich.
After that game finished work began to make sure the arena was prepared to host its very first NFL game on Sunday between the Oakland Raiders and Chicago Bears.
The scene, which opened in April, was built specifically to cater to both football and American football.
Therefore it has unique features, such as a retractable pitch.
The grass pitch, that sits into 3 metal segments weighing more than 3,000 tonnes each, is retracted in 25 minutes to make way for an artificial pitch. The grass pitch retracts to the South Stand and also could be kept for up to 10 days at a garage due to LED irrigation, cooling and light methods.
The scene features home and away NFL locker rooms.
We have looked to design and provide the maximum atmospheric stadium of its type, incorporating the largest single-tier stand from the country and a tight stadium bowl arrangement that ensures everybody is closer to the pitch than at any similar venue, coupled with world-class facilities, said Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.
We will be a house for the NFL at London. Their dedicated entrance, in addition to dressing rooms and health care centers at our East Stand, imply our arena is the only one out the United States specifically designed for the sport.
As Spurs started against Bayern Munich in midweek before folding, the Raiders blew an early lead to fall behind against the Bears.
However unlike the Premier League club, the Raiders fought back and emerged since 24-21 winners.
Here is the year of aggressive American football and the excursion has been made by nearly every group.
After the Houston Texans play the Jacksonville Jaguars on November 3, 31 teams will have played – with the Green Bay Packers being the only team to go to London.
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the next stadium to host a match in London after Wembley and Twickenham.
